Scholarship Information
New Scholarship Fund Raising Proposal In 2014, SCRTA entered into an agreement to award our two annual scholarships through the Scioto Foundation. The goal is to award two $750 scholarships each year and to build our fund balance with the Foundation to a level that will allow the awards to continue in perpetuity, Currently the balance is $24,926 and represents about half of what is needed to meet that goal. So we need to continue to build the balance AND fund the current scholarships until we reach the self-sustaining goal. To accomplish both goals, we are beginning a $25-A-YEAR CLUB. We are asking members to commit to donating at least $25 each year to the scholarship fund to cover the cost of the two annual awards independent of the Foundation fund. We currently have 38 members that have joined the $25-A-Year Club. The club year runs from July 1 - June 30, so we are close to starting a new year. We encourage all members to join the club. We will continue to accept scholarship donations through our table donations at meetings. By-Law Change Approved
The SCRTA executive committee proposed a change in our by-laws, concerning the succession of officers. The issue was addressed in the last newsletter and presented to the membership who were present at the March 2016 meeting. As a result, the office of Vice-President has been omitted and replaced by the office of Co-President-Elect. This will reduce the number of commitment years for the officer from six to four, with the office progression being two years as co-president-elect, and two years as president. The change was approved unanimously by those in attendance. Options for Meeting Reminders and Reservations
